Acer Laptops and Acer Notebooks

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 4:29 1 Comment

When Acer laptop computers first appeared onto the UK laptop scene, people tended to turn up their nose at the name (it was not a known brand) and because Acer laptop computers were significantly cheaper than many of their rivals, the assumption was made, quite wrongly, that cheaper laptops meant shoddy laptops.

Over the years people who have tried Acer laptop products have discovered that a cheap Acer laptop computer means a laptop that costs less but does not provide a sub standard set of components.

The Acer company goal is to provide people with an easy to use laptop, which is dependable and satisfies customer requirements and was, obviously, affordable. This ethos has turned Acer laptops from being “Oh dear, you own an Acer” to becoming one of the top five PC vendors in the world and in 2008 became world’s No.1 for their notebook computers. Laptop snobs should beware of turning their noses up at Acer laptops nowadays, they may, very well, be missing something.

The Acer Aspire laptop 5735 has Acer Cine Crystal which means you get to near cinema quality viewing on the High Definition TFT LCD 15.6” screen and with its stereo speakers you can look forward to unbelievable sound quality, too. The 2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo processors makes downloading quicker and completing tasks becomes a piece of cake. With 4GB of RAM and 250 GB Hard drive storage, you are not going to run out of space any time soon. The Aspire laptop is wireless enabled, so, you are ready to surf the web and its 5-in-1 card reader makes file sharing easy peasy, too. The Acer Aspire 5735, a What Laptop Gold Award winning laptop computer for 2009, comes with Microsoft Vista Home Premium operating system and is an excellent multimedia laptop for home use.

Mini Notes: Notebooks and Laptops That Are Ultraslim, Ultraportable, and Powerful

Saturday, October 31, 2009 5:07 No Comments

Mini notes are notebooks and laptops that are half the size of traditional machines, but incredibly powerful and ultra-portable. They are exploding in popularity in four markets:

- Rural areas around the globe that are cut off from new sources of information such as updated textbooks and up-to-the-minute news turn to these devices to solve these problems.

- Many poor areas have both the above problem and also the problem of families not being able to afford a full fledged computer.

- Consumers in the U.S., Japan, and elsewhere often have computing needs that are much less than what a large and expensive computer delivers. Groups such as children, stay at home parents, and senior citizens may want something easy, cheap portable, and light. Mini notes are perfect.

- Many families in wealthier countries are finding that they need almost one computer to every family member. However, to save space and money, and for maximum convenience, they buy one or two large models and the rest are mini-laptops or mini-notebooks.

What has happened over the past few years to truly make mini laptops and mini notebooks so popular is that manufacturers no longer have to strip down a lot of the functionality of a larger model to get to a price and size that attracts the consumer. In fact, most of the current mini notes have the functionality of the fully powerful notebooks and laptops of just a few years ago. They have a screen much larger than a mobile phone or PDA, though slightly smaller than a full sized laptop.

These new age notebooks or laptops are capable of storing hundreds times more of not just simple information but also complex multi media files and even provide us a gateway to connect with the world through the internet!

If you look at it from a different perspective, what are laptops, if not the latest in notebooks? Clearly somebody thought of it and hence they got their other name- not just because of the resemblance in form but also in the basic function.

Choices Galore

Today, almost every working professional’s life seems to be incomplete without a laptop. Not only do they provide instant connectivity with the world through the internet but they are also our second brain for completing computing and recording tasks. Green Computing With Refurbished Laptops

Friday, July 31, 2009 8:11 No Comments

We no longer live in the ‘throw away’ age of discarding products simply because they have developed a small fault or we are after the latest and greatest new model. Protecting our Earth is now a big priority for most people and businesses, therefore we are adapting our lifestyles to do everything we can to help preserve our planet for future generations. Instead of throwing a laptop in the bin simply because one of the components has failed or it is no longer considered to be up-to-date, more and more people are turning to recycling or ‘refurbishing’ as an environmentally sound option.

Recycling can be done in a number of ways, selling the laptop for spares, donating it to charities that supply third world countries or by selling it to a refurbishing company such as Eflex Computers Companies such as this will offer you money for old laptops, whether they function or not, and then refurbish them and put them back into the marketplace. The refurbishing process is carried out by professionals and incorporates the following stages.

The laptop is fully wiped of all personal data, programs, software etc and taken to a ‘blank’ state. This not only protects the previous owner from having any information stolen but also ensures the system is totally clean of any viruses or issues that could prevent it functioning properly. The hardware then undergoes rigorous testing to ensure that all of the components are functioning correctly and that they still have a good life left in them. If any of the components aren’t functioning correctly or are identified as only having a short life span left they are replaced with new parts. Fresh versions of all the software including operating system, required drivers, anti-virus programs etc are then re-installed on the laptop effectively returning it to the same state as when it was first sent out of the factory.
