WHY AN ANTI-VIRUS?
Early morning when Jennifer opened her laptop to check her mails, she found her desktop working very slow. There were several pop-ups which wouldn’t stop to erupt again and again even after Jennifer pressed the close button. The problem didn’t eradicate even after restarting the system. Later it was found that various mails were being copied from her inbox and being sent to various recipients in her address book. All this was indicative towards the fact that Jennifer’s desktop was infected by a virus. Her mistake was twofold. One, she had not installed an Anti Virus software in her system, and two, she had downloaded an unverified program via a mail sent in her inbox.
What we have read above was the tip of the iceberg, some viruses are very serious and they can corrupt and delete important files on your system. Many programs fail running its operations. Your desktop may crash.
There are several new viruses coming in the network every day. It may be difficult to identify a virus unless it itself prompts the user about itself, which is very rare; or if the user has a good Anti Virus System installed in his/her system, then of course the particular Anti Virus system prompts it. But again, having an Anti Virus System alone is not enough. As stated earlier, due to the entry of new viruses everyday, it is very essential to keep on updating the current Anti Virus system in one’s system because the present one will only be able to identify the previously created viruses, and not the daily propagating new ones.
